Fishing the River Trent can be very daunting, where to start....? Well there are 3 parts to the River (Lower and Middle Reaches - Non tidal) and the Tidal (Below Cromwell Weir). Wherever you go, it ain't gonna be easy... River Record - 15lb 08oz - Collingham (Nov 2007).
The Zander were first spotted locally in a NRA survey in 1985 at Torksey lock nr Lincoln. But now locals from Leicestershire, Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire have admitted catching them before that. The Zander probably were stocked into some Leciester Stillwater and had escaped in the floods down the River Soar and straight into the Trent, then spread throughout the whole river. The Trent Record has been taken on the Tidal Strech at Collingham, Notts and stands at 15lb 08oz Oct 2007.
Bobs Island at Newark, normally known for its Barbel, Chub and Carp, but in 2005 a 6lb Zander was reported in the Newark Advertiser.
